Where do you stand when it comes to miracles? Do you believe that God wants to use you to work miracles in the life of the Church? - Daily Reflections September 6,2015

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MIRACLES?

There are many people who do not believe in miracles. Where do you stand on this issue?
I have seen people healed of their illnesses. I have seen food multiply before my eyes as I helped serve it to the hungry. I have seen people released from demonic possession and I have seen prophecies come true. Jesus worked miracles during His time on earth and He continues to work them today through those who believe that He still wants to do so.
Miracles are an integral part of the Gospel proclamation. They serve to attract people to the Gospel. They also accomplish God’s saving work in people’s lives. No doubt God wants to use us to continue to perform miracles today, not because He wants to show off but because He wants to affirm that He is with us and He cares about our situation. No, God does not heal everybody who gets sick. Jesus heals some in order to demonstrate His power and to indicate that the future state of humanity in the resurrection is without sin, but not all people get healed.
Miracles are very mysterious entities and usually defy analysis other than to demonstrate God’s power. Scripture repeatedly tells us that we need to believe that God can work miracles. I know of people who were actually brought to faith through their experience of a miracle in their lives. So God sometimes uses miracles to get people’s attention and turn them to Himself.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS: Where do you stand when it comes to miracles? Do you believe that God wants to use you to work miracles in the life of the Church?

Holy Spirit, help me to trust and believe in Your power to work miracles in my life, and to use me to work the same in the lives of others.
