What does God want you to do with the rest of your life? Are you open to the new possibilities that He offers you right now? - Daily Reflections July 24,2015

BE A FERTILE GROUND

God has the best plan for our lives. He will bring to completion what He has started in us. He planted the best seed in us. Through our openness, there will be plentiful harvest.
The call for us is to be open to God’s will. As we cooperate in His plan, the best in us will be fulfilled. In the Parable of the Sower, the seed that fell on the fertile ground bore much fruit. That fertile ground refers to a heart that is fully open to God’s Word. Such is a manifestation of deep faith in God who is the source of everything. It is a statement of absolute dependence on Him. It is a conviction that nothing is impossible for God. We are called to be totally reliant on the goodness of God.
This is in contrast to an attitude of absolute dependence on the self. It is a way of looking at life without God. There are people who do not really hope for what God has promised. There are people whose hearts tend to believe that God is miserly begrudging of His love. Many have settled themselves so firmly in their lives that they are no longer open to anything new that God brings them. This kind of mindset limits the power of the Gospel message. The limit does not come from the Giver but from the one who receives. As a consequence, the possibility to bear much fruit is curtailed.
If we open ourselves to God’s love, we will realize that our skills and efforts are so small compared to the magnitude of results. This is called grace.
Let us open ourselves to the new possibilities that God offers to us. Let our hearts trust in God’s generosity and faithfulness. Fr. Alex Balatbat

REFLECTION QUESTIONS: What does God want you to do with the rest of your life? Are you open to the new possibilities that He offers you right now?

Lord Jesus, disarm my heart so that I can welcome Your reign of peace and love. Help me to live each moment in Your goodness. Amen.
