CONVERSION AND TRANSFORMATION

CONVERSION AND TRANSFORMATION

It often seems that those who have strayed furthest from God are more diligent and enthusiastic with discipleship. This is an example of the principle that says he who receives the greater forgiveness is more grateful. Those who have been forgiven much have more to be grateful for when deciding how to respond to the call to follow Jesus as His disciple.

This does not mean that those who have not strayed far will not be committed in following Jesus, but their motivation may be different. Motivation is an important aspect of discipleship because it is not an easy task to follow the Lord. More often than not, there will be suffering involved—suffering in terms of trials of conversion or suffering coming directly from people who do not agree with one’s choice to follow Jesus.

The response of people to conversion stories are varied. Sometimes, they are completely rejected, other times ignored, and sometimes respected. We never know how people will respond to our conversion and transformation because it all depends on how they will embrace the changes in their relationships with us. On becoming committed to living as a disciple of Jesus, many of my friends ignored me as they assumed I was not interested in them anymore. This was not true and so, over time, I have slowly been able to share with some of them why I became a priest and so on. Let us all give witness to the graces of salvation at work in us. Fr. ---------- REFLECTION QUESTION ----------

Do you reflect on the graces of conversion at work in your life? Maybe you should so that you will grow in gratitude for the wonderful things God is doing for you.

Lord Jesus, thank You for the many blessings in my life. Help me to respond well to them. Amen.

Today, I pray for: ____________________________
