AGREE ABOUT ANYTHING

AGREE ABOUT ANYTHING

“Again, truly I tell you, that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.” – Matthew 18:19

My mom and I are “frenemies.” We shift from being friends to enemies in a span of a minute. All it takes is a difference of opinion, a raised tone of voice, and an irritated look on my face. Yes, we are mother and daughter, share the same surname, are both female, but have opposite personalities and different ways of thinking.

But one of the things we do agree about is this—the power of prayer. Praying together has seen us through painful experiences and difficult trials, and has taught us to be grateful for everything and everyone.

Mom and I prayed together at Dad’s bedside during his last hours. The Lord was merciful to answer our prayers—Dad passed away peacefully as he succumbed to lung cancer.

For years, we’ve been praying for God to heal the relationships in our family. While we await the completion of His work in this area of our life, Mom and I just keep on praying, for we both trust God who is, and always will be, faithful. Dina Pecaña (dina.p@shepherdsvoice.com.ph)

Reflect: “Nothing tends more to cement the hearts of Christians than praying together. Never do they love one another so well as when they witness the outpouring of each other’s hearts in prayer.” (Charles Finney)

Lord Jesus, invite us to pray with You each day. Give us the grace to seek our Blessed Mother’s intercession and to patiently await Your answer. Amen.

St. Jane Frances de Chantal, pray for us.
